There’s nothing more relaxing than an escape to Smuggler’s Cove Inn. This classic Maine waterfront retreat is the ideal destination for everyone, from families to couples. Nestled on the shores of Linekin Bay, our resort puts you near top adventures and things to do in Midcoast Maine. With so many things to do and see, it can sometimes be difficult to enjoy the slower pace of vacation. For a relaxing way to begin your day, start every morning by watching a Maine sunrise.
The Best Sunrise Viewing Spots
While vacations are a great time to sleep in, you might miss out on incredible scenery, like a sunrise. On your next vacation, consider setting your alarm a little early once or twice to witness the sun marking the start of a new day from the top viewing spots.
For a convenient spot, simply make your way to our sandy beach, one of our cozy Adirondack chairs, or the private dock. However, if you want to get out and explore first thing in the morning, there are plenty of nearby locations to check out.
- Another great location is Ocean Point Walk, which is just a short drive from our resort. You’ll want to park just off Ocean Point Road and walk to the beach.
- Several nature preserves around our East Boothbay hotel are made even more beautiful during sunrise. Walk the River Loop trail in the Linekin Preserve to see the sun rise above the Damariscotta River.
- For a unique sunrise experience, book your spot on the sunrise photography lighthouse cruise from Balmy Day Cruises. This specialty cruise usually takes place on a Saturday in early to mid-September. The two-hour trip takes you around the Boothbay Region to witness four lighthouses in the early morning light.
If you are trying to take photos of the early morning sun, there are some tips and tricks to keep in mind. This includes things like your ISO and aperture settings, and how you frame the shot.
